You'll see this term come up a bunch in our Tesloop Carmiq content. Connected cars are vehicles built as computers from the ground up, such as Teslas. Connected vehicles enable remote monitoring and control of various aspects of the vehicle which help us provide Tesla Owners and Tesloop Renters better service.
There are multiple levels of connectivity and accessibility that exist within cars. Tesla has open APIs, which allow any developer query and control a variety of different aspects of their vehicles, such as viewing location, state of charge, or speed, as well as unlocking, opening, and turning on the car. Other vehicle manufacturers, such as GM and VW, have access to some attributes of their vehicles but have closed APIs which prevent third-party developers from interacting with the vehicle without permission.
