From Santa Monica to San Diego, or the other way around, you have 5.5 hours from the start of your rental pick up time to drive the rental and drop it off at the dropoff location at the dropoff time. At the time of booking, you will be presented with the dropoff time and it will also be included in your Rental Itinerary. The rental time is calculated based on predicted traffic and a required mid-trip charging time. We also provide plenty of buffer time to allow for bathroom, rest breaks, and general enjoyment of the vehicle and its features.
A mid-trip supercharge may be required at the Westminster, San Clemente, or another Tesla Supercharger. Your Tesloop Concierge will let you know your mid trip supercharge location. Learn about Supercharging.
In most cases, even with LA rush hour, you can expect to be able to get between LA and San Diego in 4.5 or fewer hours with a 30-45 minute supercharging break and plenty of time to drop your luggage off at home your hotel before dropping off the vehicle included.
Teslas come with a navigation system which includes supercharging locations. If you would like to use popular apps such as Waze or Google Maps, we’ve included phone holders and charging cables for you to use.
